Ingredients

Crab Rangoon Filling
  • 8 oz artificial crab meat finely chopped
  • 4 oz low fat cream cheese
  • 1 tsp chili spice seasoning
  • 2 tbsp scallions finely chopped
Outer Shell Assembly
  • 4 pieces low carb fajita Mission tortillas
  • 1 whole egg whisked for egg wash
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

Method

  1. Chop your imitation crab meat into small pieces and place it into a medium mixing bowl. Add the low-fat cream cheese, chili spice seasoning, and chopped scallions, mixing thoroughly with a fork until smooth.
  2. Lay out the four low-carb fajita tortillas on a clean work surface. Divide the crab mixture evenly into the center of each tortilla.
  3. Fold the left and right sides of each tortilla inward over the filling, then roll tightly from the bottom up to form a sealed wrap.
  4. Whisk the whole egg in a small bowl. Brush the wash generously over the entire exterior of each roll, focusing heavily on the seams to lock them down. Sprinkle the tops with sesame seeds.
  5. Place the rolls seam-side down inside the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry at 370°F (188°C) for 6 to 8 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until crispy and golden brown.

Notes

Low Carb High Protein Crab Rangoons Tips & Expert Strategy

TEXTURE NOTE: These wraps should turn out completely crispy and shattered on the outside with a thick, warm, and rich cream cheese center.
SUBSTITUTION WARNING: Swapping the low-fat cream cheese out for regular full-fat versions will cause the mixture to melt significantly faster, increasing the risk of leaking from the wraps during air frying.
BETTER LATER NOTE: These are best enjoyed immediately fresh out of the air fryer basket. Leftovers will lose their crisp texture in the fridge but can be easily recrisped by giving them a brief re-fry for a few minutes.
SERVING TIP: Serve these hot alongside a small side of sugar-free sweet chili sauce or a quick dip made with soy sauce and green onions.
