Ultimate High Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake Tips & Expert Strategy

TEXTURE WARNING: Do not use a fresh room-temperature banana. The pectin in a frozen banana acts as the primary emulsifier, giving this shake its thick, ice cream-like mouthfeel. Fresh bananas will leave you with a watery smoothie.
COTTAGE CHEESE BLENDING: It is critical to blend for the full 45-60 seconds. You need the high speed to completely liquefy the curds so the cheese simply functions as a thick cream base. If you cut the blending short, you will have a grainy texture.
LIQUID BASE: While you can use almond milk and dry whey protein powders, using a pre-mixed liquid shake like Atkins completely eliminates the chalky texture common in homemade protein drinks. It provides a velvety suspension.
SERVE IMMEDIATELY: This shake does not mellow or improve in the fridge. Because the frozen banana and ice are structural components, melting will cause the drink to separate. Drink immediately after blending to experience the ultimate texture.
